[TRAINING OPPORTUNITY] Conducting Waste Characterization Studies for Data-Driven Waste Management

Globally, waste generation rates are on the rise due to rapid population growth and urbanization—and many cities lack up-to-date, integrated waste management plans to safely manage this waste. As a first step in this process, it is critical that cities know how much and what types of waste are generated, collected, and disposed—and what materials compose these waste streams. A Waste Characterization Study can gather this information, and future projections, to inform data-driven Integrated Solid Waste Management Plans.

Join USAID’s Clean Cities, Blue Ocean program to learn more about conducting Waste Characterization Studies. This virtual training will provide an overview of USAID’s waste characterization methodology for cities and share experiences from the cities of Samaná in the Dominican Republic and Phu Quoc in Vietnam, where waste characterization studies have provided data to improve the waste management process.

Training Topics
