The 12th World Sustainability Forum (WSF-12) concluded on 24 August 2026 after four days of discussions among researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and sustainability practitioners in Hong Kong.

Following the event, the MDPI Sustainability Foundation—WSF-12’s primary organizer—opened nominations for two awards recognizing academic and societal contributions to sustainability.

The World Sustainability Award, which carries a prize of USD 100,000, will recognize one senior researcher whose work has made a transformative contribution to sustainability.

The Emerging Sustainability Leader Award will recognize one outstanding early-career researcher and includes a USD 20,000 prize.

Award recipients will be formally recognized at the 13th World Sustainability Forum, scheduled for 8–11 June 2027 in Nice, France.
