Nominations Now Open for the 2025 WIN DRR Leadership Awards

The 2025 WIN DRR Leadership Awards has been launched, recognizing outstanding women leaders making a difference in disaster risk reduction (DRR) across the Asia-Pacific region.

Organized under the Women’s International Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (WIN DRR)—the flagship women’s leadership initiative of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), supported by the Australian Government—these awards shine a spotlight on the dedication, impact, and leadership of women working to reduce disaster risks in the region. WIN DRR is a professional network open to all, aiming to promote gender equality and elevate women’s leadership in disaster risk reduction.

About the Awards

The 2025 WIN DRR Leadership Awards will be presented during the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction celebrations in Asia-Pacific this coming October 2025. This year, two individual awards will be conferred:

  • WIN DRR Rising Star Award – US$7,500
    Recognizing early-career commitment to DRR, this award will go to a woman who has shown strong leadership potential and dedication to pursuing a career in disaster risk reduction.

  • WIN DRR Excellence AwardUS$10,000
    Proudly supported by SM Prime Holdings Inc., this award celebrates a woman who has achieved outstanding professional success and demonstrated exemplary leadership in DRR.

Who Can Be Nominated?

  • Nominees must identify as women and be citizens or permanent residents of countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

  • They must be actively engaged in DRR work within the region.

  • Individuals may nominate themselves or others.

  • Nominations are welcome from across the WIN DRR network and the broader DRR community.

Please note that individuals currently or previously employed by UNDRR or DFAT are not eligible to be nominated but may submit nominations. Additionally, those currently contracted by UNDRR in any capacity (e.g., interns, consultants, UNVs) or affiliated with organizations under contract or grant with UNDRR are also ineligible for nomination.
