Applications are now open for the ESD Okayama Award 2025, a prestigious international recognition for outstanding Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) projects. Organizations from around the world that have implemented ESD initiatives for over two years are invited to apply by 31 May 2025 (Saturday), 5:00 PM Japan Standard Time.
The award, jointly organized by Okayama City and the ESD Okayama Award Steering Board, aims to celebrate and promote best practices in ESD that contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since its launch in 2015, the award has spotlighted innovative projects that empower communities through education and sustainability.
One or two winning projects will be selected, each receiving a US$3,000 prize. A representative from the winning organization(s) will be invited to present their work at the Award Ceremony on 21 October 2025 (Tuesday) in Okayama City, held in conjunction with the 14th Global RCE Conference, hosted by the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) and other partners.
