On July 26, the world celebrates the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, highlighting its importance as a unique and vulnerable ecosystem, and promoting its sustainable management.
This Tuesday, 26 July from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM, the ADB Urban Sector will showcase the lessons and experience of the Municipality of Del Carmen in the Philippines on mangrove forest ecosystem management in an island setting with a booming tourism industry.
The insights will include how a community-led project (CLP) on solid waste management is pivotal to their approach.
The CLP is financed through the ADB Urban Climate Change Resilience Trust Fund (UCCRTF) with contributions from the governments of United Kingdom and Switzerland and the Rockefeller Foundation. It is implemented by Oxfam and the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement (PRRM).
