Makati City, Philippines Mayor Mar-Len Abigail “Abby” Binay has recently been announced as one of the first four City Ambassadors of the new Alliance City Ambassadors Program by the Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA). She adds the esteemed position to her running list of sustainable development leadership roles, including serving as the 2021-2024 ICLEI Southeast Asia Representative to the ICLEI Global Executive Committee and ICLEI Global Executive Committee Chairmanship for the Innovative Financing portfolio.
The CCFLA City Ambassadors are “experienced city leaders who act as advisors to the Alliance and ensure that its activities and outputs are practical for cities’ ground-level financial realities.”
Specifically, CCFLA Ambassadors helps guide other city leaders in terms of content, or the specific climate finance information they need; access, or how cities can better and more easily access climate finance information; and usability, or the most usable tools, materials, and formats that city leaders need when increasing climate finance to their cities.
As a CCFLA City Ambassador, Mayor Abby Binay is further recognized as a thought leader for financing climate action and low-carbon, resilient infrastructure. She also gains access to a wide network of like-minded stakeholders, as well as brings global attention and support to Makati City’s best climate finance practices.
