The group consisting of various stakeholders, focused in in-depth discussions on various issues that could potentially reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions in DKI Jakarta.
Jakarta, Indonesia – Various stakeholders of the Indonesian capital gathered on 27 November at the Grand Cemara Hotel to discuss their Ikhtiar Jakarta- a grounded and inclusive climate action plan that aims to support the city in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030.
The workshop follows a series of consultations with key representatives in the city in order to ensure representation and inclusion to the strategies and commitments outlined in the plan. Project Officer of Yayasan ICLEI Indonesia, Selamet Daroyni stated, “This plan underscored the interconnectedness of sectors in the city. It links the government, the business sector, and the greater society towards a common goal.”

Participants from the government, business people, and the community attended and actively participated in the discussion of the determination of the Ikhtiar Jakarta.
The process of streamlining the Ikhtiar Jakarta, a key output of DKI Jakarta as the model city of Ambitious City Promises in Indonesia, began as early as October 2018 through a series of public consultations, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews.
The city government of DKI Jakarta has been working tirelessly with its constituents and welcomes the inputs that they are receiving from various representatives, namely DKI Jakarta government, business and public.
“We feel the issue of climate change in Jakarta. The workshop with the ICLEI team this time is the final stage of a series of Ambitious City Promises activities to encourage the involvement of all stakeholders to achieve emission reduction targets,” explained Susi Andriani, Head of the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Section, DKI Jakarta Environment Agency.
The ACP project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU) through the International Climate Initiative (IKI) program. The project commits to reduce GHG emissions through participatory and inclusive local climate actions in selected cities in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam
