RRC.AP Communications Intern- Climate Change Cluster

The Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RRC.AP) at the Asian Institute of Technology is recruiting an intern to support its Climate Change Cluster on communications, knowledge management, and outreach work. 

Location: Asian Institute of Technology, Pathumthani, Thailand

Start date: As soon as possible

Expected duration: 3 – 6 months 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Under the supervision of a Program Officer and in close collaboration with other staff within the climate change cluster, the candidate will be expected to execute external and internal strategies for communications and outreach. This can include:

  • Managing and coordinating production, editing, and dissemination of communication materials 

  • Supporting efforts to improve RRC.AP’s outreach and digital presence by developing high quality web content in RRC.AP’s webpage and social media accounts

  • Assisting staff during planning and implementation of training programmes, conferences, workshops, and webinars

  • Representing RRC.AP in conferences and exhibits

  • Compiling information and improving internal knowledge management systems

  • Liaising with partners to develop joint knowledge sharing products or events 

  • Exploring new funding and partnership opportunities 

  • Drafting grants and funding proposals on climate related topics

Please note that the above list of responsibilities is indicative and the selected candidate may be asked to work in other areas if needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Masters (completed or in progress) in communications, journalism, public relations, international development, environmental sciences, social sciences, or related fields

  • Demonstrable experience performing communication tasks (managing a website, using social media tools and channels, targeting and developing content for diverse audiences, event planning, liaising with stakeholders, etc.)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent command of English

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of climate change and sustainable development issues

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with media channels used to disseminate information on international development, climate change, and sustainable development

  • Ability to use photo editing and graphic design software (Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop) and design appealing visual products

  • Ability to problem-solve, multi-task, and be proactive under limited supervision

  • Passion and interest for climate change and sustainable development topics

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, ideally with experience working or studying in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment
