EVENT: ICLEI invites SEA cities to set science-based climate actions

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a report on the Physical Science Basis of Climate Change wherein they underscored that “Global surface temperature will continue to increase until at least the mid-century under all emissions scenarios considered.” This reality will rapidly become evident unless deep reductions in GHG emissions are enforced immediately. The report said that with an additional increment in global warming, weather and climate extremes such as increased frequency and intensity of hot extremes, heavy precipitation, agricultural and ecological droughts, and intense tropical cyclones, will continue to worsen. Therefore, the global community has called on state and non-state actors including local governments to mobilize stakeholders in a concerted effort in combating climate change.

This webinar invites local governments in Southeast Asia in a webinar that will introduce a platform to rally and share climate actions at the local level as well as to build capacities in setting science-based targets that back up their climate commitments.
