ICLEI SEAS members recognized with Seal of Good Local Governance

ICLEI Southeast Asia Secretariat congratulates its dynamic members who were recognized by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) with this year’s Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).

SGLG is given to local government units who pass the assessment in three core competency areas: good financial housekeeping; social protection; and disaster preparedness and at least one in these essential assessment areas: business friendliness and competitiveness; peace and order; and environmental management.

The award, first introduced in 2014, aims to encourage local governments to practice good governance punctuated with better and efficient social services.

Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno congratulated the winners, noting, “We urge you to do more. Do not stop with the Seal or the Lupong Tagapamayapa Award. There is much more to these awards than the prestige and the cash rewards attached to them.”
