{"id":8476,"date":"2024-01-23T15:10:50","date_gmt":"2024-01-23T07:10:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/?p=8476"},"modified":"2024-04-04T08:38:56","modified_gmt":"2024-04-04T00:38:56","slug":"job-vacancy-project-assistant-climate-resilient-cities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/index.php\/2024\/01\/23\/job-vacancy-project-assistant-climate-resilient-cities\/","title":{"rendered":"[CLOSED] Job Vacancy: Project Assistant &#8211; Climate Resilient Cities"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Location : Quezon City with required travel to project cities<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Duration : March to December 2024<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Conditions : Project Based<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The ICLEI \u2013 Local Governments for Sustainability Southeast Asia Secretariat (ICLEI SEAS) is looking for a project assistant who will assist in the Climate Resilient Cities (CRC) &#8211; Climate Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) and Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP) consultancy awarded to ICLEI SEAS by the\u00a0Catholic Relief Services (CRS).<\/p>\n<p>Funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the CRC project is a five-year activity that embodies a consultative and collaborative approach for advancing benchmarks for urban climate resilience in the Philippines. The CRC project supports six cities; namely, Batangas, Borongan, Cotabato, Iloilo, Legazpi, and Zamboanga. The ICLEI SEAS team shall work closely with the CRC team and the target local governments in the attainment of the project goal.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The overall CRC project objective is to improve resilience by strengthening the adaptive capacity of cities to adapt to, mitigate, and manage the impacts of climate change and disasters. It will develop robust\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">multi-stakeholder capacity for climate information generation, analysis, use, and climate change adaptation (CCA) and climate change mitigation (CCM) planning, support local government units (LGUs) to fund projects that improve climate resilience, and implement evidence-based, nature-based, and gender-sensitive solutions that are locally identified and context-specific.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Specific Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide technical assistance in the development of Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment and Local Climate Change Action Plan of the target cities<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Travel to project cities and act as a resource person in capacity-building activities. The Project Assistant will be presenting on topics such as:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overview\/Basics of climate change<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment process<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Local Climate Change Action Plan process<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coordinate with project partners and project cities<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assist in project management tasks such as preparing cash advances, activity designs, activity reports, slide presentations, trip liquidation, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perform other tasks that may be assigned<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Degree<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in environmental science\/management, urban and regional planning, or other relevant degree; or a combination of relevant education and experience.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1-2 years<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of experience in developing local climate change action plans, comprehensive development plans, and\/or other equivalent local development plans<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is a must.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is an advantage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Familiarity with the climate change policy landscape at the national level.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understanding of the local-level planning process<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of data collection and analysis.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ability to facilitate multi-stakeholder workshops at a local and national level<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previous experience in development work or related work for donor organizations, government institutions, NGOs, and private sector\/ consulting firms is a strong advantage.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To apply, please submit a <\/span><strong>Cover Letter<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that demonstrates your relevant experience and qualifications, along with your <\/span><strong>latest CV.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please send all materials in one PDF via email with subject \u201cAPPLICATION &#8211; ICLEI SEAS CRC Project Assistant\u201d no later than February 9, 2023 to: <\/span><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>jose.gochoco@iclei.org<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
