Katowice and Glasgow gave us the plan. Sharm El-Sheikh shifts us to implementation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/real-world-actors-share-progress-and-strengthen-resolve-at-opening-of-global-climate-action-agenda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry Announces Sharm-El-Sheikh Adaptation Agenda\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>[8 November 2022]<\/strong> Announced during one of the COP27 high-level events, the\u00a0Sharm-El-Sheikh Adaptation Agenda seeks to enhance the resilience of 4-billion people living in the world&#8217;s most climate-vulnerable areas by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>It is the first comprehensive international plan that encourages both public and private actors to undertake 30 Adaptation Outcomes required by 2030 across various sectors, including\u00a0food and agriculture, water and nature, oceans and coastal, human settlements and infrastructure systems, as well as the delivery of these across the key enablers of planning and finance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/supervisory-body-submits-recommendations-on-article-64-mechanism-to-parties-in-sharm-el-sheikh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Article 6.4 guidelines on removals set for recommendation; methodologies still pending<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>[9 November 2022]<\/strong> The Supervisory Body overseeing Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement\u00a0has finalized its recommendations on carbon removals for consideration of the Parties. However,\u00a0recommendations on requirements for methodologies has yet to be completed.<\/p>\n<p>Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement seeks to\u00a0create a GHG emission reduction trading mechanism between countries under the supervision of the COP.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/at-cop27-scientists-warn-against-limits-of-adaptation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Scientists say we can only adapt so much to climate change<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>[10 November 2022]<\/strong> The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/10insightsclimate.science\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong><i>10 New Insights in Climate Science<\/i><\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0report from scientists around the world argue that the potential to adapt to climate change is not limitless. While adaptation actions are crucial to minimizing loss and damage from the climate crisis, mitigation efforts must be accelerated for the world to be able to keep up with the effects of climate change.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/cop27-leaders-boost-sustainable-forest-management\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Launch of the Forest and Climate Leaders\u2019 Partnership (FCLP)<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>[14 November 2022]<\/strong> This partnership aims to support the commitment of 140 countries made during COP26 for sustainable land use, and for the conservation, protection, sustainable management, and restoration of forests, and other terrestrial ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>27 countries which make up 60% of global GDP and 33% of the world&#8217;s forests have already committed to the partnership and will facilitate action areas such as\u00a0mobilizing public and donor finance to support implementation, supporting Indigenous Peoples\u2019 and local communities\u2019 initiatives, and incentivizing the conservation of high-integrity forests.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/al-gore-and-high-level-speakers-transparency-and-accountability-underpin-effective-climate-action\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>#Together4Transparency initiative launched<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>[14 November 2022]<\/strong> Former US Vice President Al Gore underscored the need for transparency and accountability in climate action, adding that &#8220;You can&#8217;t manage what you cannot measure.&#8221;\u00a0This initiative will support the transition towards the Enhanced Transparency Framework of the Paris Agreement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/global-stocktake-is-about-ambition-accountability-and-acceleration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>First global stocktake moves closer to implementation<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>[14 November 2022]\u00a0<\/strong>The second technical dialogue of the first global stocktake was successfully completed, with\u00a0participants sharing their best-available science-based methods and assessments of mitigation, adaptation, implementation, as well as the gaps and barriers they have faced.\u00a0 The stocktake is a key process in the implementation of the Paris Agreement and acceleration of climate action.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/cop27-leaders-boost-sustainable-forest-management\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Forest and Climate Leaders\u2019 Partnership (FCLP) launched<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>[14 November 2022]\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The Forest and Climate Leaders\u2019 Partnership (FCLP) seeks to accelerate the implementation of a COP26 <a href=\"https:\/\/ukcop26.org\/glasgow-leaders-declaration-on-forests-and-land-use\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>commitment<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>from over 140 countries to stop the loss of forests and degradation of lands by 2030.\u00a027 countries which represent over 60% of the world&#8217;s gross domestic product and 33% of the world\u2019s forests have already joined the FCLP.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/joint-work-programme-of-the-unfccc-technology-mechanism-launched-at-cop27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Joint work programme to promote climate tech in developing countries<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>[15 November 2022]<\/strong> High-level leaders from various governments, UN Environment Programme,\u00a0and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change has launched\u00a0a new 5-year work programme to promote the adoption of climate technology solutions for mitigation and adapation efforts in developing countries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/government-ministers-at-cop27-call-for-more-ambitious-climate-action\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Government ministers call for more ambitious climate action<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>[15 November 2022]\u00a0<\/strong>In a high-level roundtable, government ministers\u00a0collective called for the entire world to accelerate climate action, with many developing countries highlighting the need for further support and sustained access to climate finance. Most governments also agreed that\u00a0the 1.5\u00b0C temperature limit should be the threshold.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/climatechampions.unfccc.int\/contribution-of-the-all-of-society-global-climate-action-agenda-at-cop27\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Comprehensive summary of COP27 global climate action outcomes<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>[17 November 2022] The UN Climate Change High-Level Champions summarized pertinent announcements and initiatives during the two-week COP27. These include items on mitigation, adaptation finance, equity, and implementation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/cop27-reaches-breakthrough-agreement-on-new-loss-and-damage-fund-for-vulnerable-countries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Countries agree on\u00a0\u201cLoss and Damage\u201d fund for climate-vulnerable countries<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>[20 November 2022] COP27 ended with countries agreeing to create a\u00a0\u201closs and damage\u201d funding for vulnerable countries hit hard by climate hazards, loss, and damages.
