Dato\u2019Azhar bin Haji Arshad was appointed as the Mayor of Seberang Perai effective 1 January 2022. He had previously served in the Prime Minister Department (PMO) of Malaysia, as well as in the Information Ministry and several District and Land Offices in Pahang as District Officer (DO) before joining the Penang State Secretary Office in 15 November 2018 as the Deputy State Secretary (Development).<\/p>\n
He has a Master’s Degree in Science (Land Resource Management), Diploma in Public Administration, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, and a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Economics.<\/p>\n
The vision and mission of Dato\u2019 Azhar Bin Hj Arshad is to do the very best to make Seberang Perai a great place to live in, in terms of infrastructure, services, cleanliness, job opportunities, and many others.<\/p>\n
He serves as an Advisor to the ICLEI\u00a0Climate Action and Low Emission Development portfolio as part of the ICLEI\u00a0Global Executive Committee (GexCom)\u00a0for the term 2021 – 2023. He is also the Vice President for the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) for the term 2021 – 2023.<\/p>\n
Dato\u2019 Azhar bin Haji Arshad is actively involved in many sports and NGOs avtivities and has been appointed to various positions such as Chairman of the Penang MAKSAK Hockey Team, Board of Director of Stadium Corporation and Open Space, Board of Director of Penang Halal International, Board of Director Penang Football Club, and others.<\/p>\n
In recognition of his outstanding contribution and excellence in his work, he was awarded the Excellent Service Award by Tanah Lipis Land and District Office, Pahang for the year 2009.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
