{"id":6521,"date":"2021-09-07T08:00:05","date_gmt":"2021-09-07T00:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/?p=6521"},"modified":"2021-09-06T17:28:42","modified_gmt":"2021-09-06T09:28:42","slug":"u-s-and-singapore-outline-partnership-measures-to-address-climate-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/index.php\/2021\/09\/07\/u-s-and-singapore-outline-partnership-measures-to-address-climate-crisis\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. and Singapore outline partnership measures to address climate crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris last 23 August 2021 visited Singapore to reaffirm the two country&#8217;s partnership and discuss critical issues, including how the two can help address the world&#8217;s climate crisis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/08\/23\/fact-sheet-strengthening-the-u-s-singapore-strategic-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">These U.S.-Singapore climate action steps include:<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Launching the U.S.-Singapore Climate Partnership:\u00a0The United States and Singapore will launch a U.S.-Singapore Climate Partnership, through which both countries intend to work together to develop high-quality climate standards and increase regional ambition on sustainable finance, collaborate on financial sector climate and environmental risk management, support climate technology R&amp;D and regional clean energy infrastructure development, improve sustainability of ports and shipping, and mobilize private climate capitol for climate mitigation and adaptation. To launch the Climate Partnership, experts from the Departments of Commerce, Energy, Transportation, and Treasury will undertake bilateral consultations with their counterparts in Singapore to develop standards and a medium-term program of work.<\/li>\n<li>Expanding Collaboration on Smart Cities:\u00a0The United States and Singapore commit to expand our efforts promoting\u00a0smart, sustainable cities\u00a0through the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) and the U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership.\u00a0As buildings represent a significant portion of climate emissions, the United States and Singapore plan to establish a new\u00a0Green Buildings Program\u00a0to work with private sector partners on sharing best practices and promoting green building standards throughout ASEAN.\u00a0The United States and Singapore also plan to co-fund\u00a0Smart Cities Professional Exchanges\u00a0bringing ASCN officials to Singapore and the United States to build connections and share expertise on topics such as water, transportation, energy, cybersecurity, and new technologies.<\/li>\n<li>Greening the U.S.-Singapore Third Country Training Program (TCTP):\u00a0The United States and Singapore committed to expanding TCTP to include new courses on climate change and environmental sustainability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The visit of U.S. Vice President Harris to Singapore is the latest high-ranking trip in the two country&#8217;s 55-year-old diplomatic relations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris last 23 August 2021 visited Singapore to reaffirm the two country&#8217;s partnership and discuss critical issues, including how the two can help address the world&#8217;s climate crisis.
