{"id":6331,"date":"2021-07-08T09:48:09","date_gmt":"2021-07-08T01:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/?p=6331"},"modified":"2021-07-08T09:48:09","modified_gmt":"2021-07-08T01:48:09","slug":"watch-pasig-city-ph-mayor-shares-the-citys-environmental-acp-initiatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/index.php\/2021\/07\/08\/watch-pasig-city-ph-mayor-shares-the-citys-environmental-acp-initiatives\/","title":{"rendered":"WATCH: Pasig City, PH Mayor shares the city&#8217;s environmental, ACP initiatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pasig City, Philippines Mayor Vico Sotto <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was recently interviewed for a Philippine television program to discuss the city\u2019s various environmental initiatives, including its participation in the Ambitious City Promises (ACP) project.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of ACP, Pasig City joins select cities from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam that will commit themselves towards sustainable urban development, climate action, and institutionalization of their climate strategies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Specifically, Pasig City has committed itself to the reduction of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions using a holistic, multi-stakeholder, and quantifiable approach. A 2017 analysis of Pasig\u2019s GHG emissions inventory revealed that on top of the obvious culprits such as factories and vehicles, the number one source of GHG in the city is electrical consumption. Residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional energy consumption in Pasig contributed to 86% of the city\u2019s entire GHG emissions for the said year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEvery citizen has a part in protecting the environment. Even if 99% of us do our part, if there\u2019s 1% who does not do theirs, our efforts can be wasted,\u201d said Mayor Sotto in Filipino during his interview.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To rally the city\u2019s constituents towards the reduction of their electricity consumption, the Pasig City local government has made strides towards energy efficiency and conservation.
