Indonesia’s Islam, Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, Hindu, and Confucian religious leaders have banded together to produce different guidebooks tackling the role of their faith in climate crisis prevention.<\/span><\/p>\n

A total of eight Interfaith Guidebooks were produced: one entitled Religion Perspective on Humans and Climate Change; one entitled Eco-worship Buildings; and six entitled Eco-Preaching, each tailored for the sermons of the six religions above. These books provide insights as well as holistic solutions for the sustainability of human life, sourced from scriptural reviews and environmental studies. Moreover, these books are suggested to be a mandatory reference for preachers and the religious to help preserve the earth and control the impact of the global climate crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Specifically, the book \u201cReligion Perspective on Humans and Climate Change\u201d contains the efforts of the six religions in guiding their people to protect and preserve the Earth from the threat of damage. It also includes ways to prevent the threat of the global climate crisis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEco-worship Buildings\u201d is a detailed guide for each religion in explaining the function of places of worship as places not only for spiritual duties, but also as the incubators of the people’s movement towards positive changes to society.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly, \u201cEco-Preaching\u201d for Islam, Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, Hindu, and Confucian preachers is a collection of religious sermon material that guides them in treating the earth, water, land, and air, as well as addressing issues of climate and environmental crises in the daily lives of their faithful.<\/span><\/p>\n

To ensure that the contents of the books are broadcasted on the widest scale possible, religious leaders and preachers were invited to participate in various Training of Trainers (ToT) from March 2020 to February 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

Produced under the Ikhtiar Jakarta initiative, the above effort is a joint step towards saving the Earth and all its inhabitants, including the citizens of Jakarta, the Indonesian people, and the world’s population from the threat of the climate crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ikhtiar Jakarta is facilitated through the Ambitious City Promises (ACP) project. ACP supports major cities in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam in their effort to address climatechange through people-centric strategies and programs. This program also hopes to encourage community contributions and citizen actions towards the formulation of inclusive and ambitious low-emission development acceleration strategies. ACP is implemented in Indonesia with DKI Jakarta Province serving as a model city, and Tangerang City and Bekasi City serving as satellite cities.<\/span><\/p>\n

ACP is implemented in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) with funding assistance from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).<\/span><\/p>\n
