The elected representatives for this term include:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">RexCom Chairman <\/span><b>Mar-Len Abigail \u201cAbby\u201d Binay<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Mayor of Makati City, Philippines;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Dr. H. Syarif Fasha, ME.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Mayor of Jambi City, Indonesia<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Datuk Shadan bin Othman, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mayor\/President of Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council, Malaysia.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Chairman of the RexCom, Mayor Abby will represent ICLEI Southeast Asia in the ICLEI GexCom. She will speak for the region\u2019s members and uphold their interests and concerns in ICLEI\u2019s global strategic decisions. They will work together in creating policies that will further drive sustainability in the region. Specifically, the city\u2019s DRRM plans and strategies revolve around reducing disaster-related mortality and injuries; minimizing the number of affected people; reducing economic loss; minimizing infrastructure damage; and minimizing disruption of basic services. Syarif Fasha, ME.\u2019s leadership, Jambi City in Indonesia has been actively involved in the region\u2019s ICLEI Network, sharing ideas, learning from others, and creating solutions to accelerate its sustainable development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As proof of its efforts, Jambi City was a Top 5 finalist at the Global Climate City Challenge of the UN Climate Change Conference COP 25\u2014the only city in Southeast Asia to be included. Jambi City proposed a 30-million Euro mass transportation system master plan in Jambi City dubbed the \u201cGreen Urban Transport Project.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A similar transport program, called the \u201cJambi City Initiative in Environmentally-Friendly Public Transportation\u201d was presented at the 10th Global Forum on Urban Resilience and Adaptation in Bonn, Germany. The program detailed Jambi\u2019s commitment to addressing climate change through an eco-friendly public transport system in the city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jambi ultimately aims to be a smart city which integrates information and communication technologies in daily governance in order to enhance the efficiency of public service delivery and improve the welfare of citizens. Hand-in-hand with this direction is a Green City initiative which integrates modern urban transport, revitalized open green spaces, and urban parks, among others. It adapted a district-wide guideline that requires all new developments in the city to have at least 10% of its area dedicated as open or public spaces. Existing developments were also mandated to have 0.2 hectares of open space for every 1,000 residents. Through this initiative, Hang Tuah Jaya hopes to address urban congestion and improve the district\u2019s quality of life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a hub for Melaka tourism activities and as recommended by the 2018 Hang Tuah Jaya Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report, it also aims to promote an ecomobility lifestyle by developing an efficient and eco-friendly transport system.
