Communities face repeated disasters, often formulating local solutions to manage them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These trends necessitate new ways of thinking and approaches for DRM, which can take many \u2018innovative\u2019 forms such as new knowledge, changes in behavior, and improved processes for finding solutions. Correspondingly, the <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #00ccff;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.undrr.org\/publication\/sendai-framework-disaster-risk-reduction-2015-2030\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff; text-decoration: underline;\">Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) 2015-2030<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> emphasizes the \u201cuse and expansion of thematic platforms of cooperation, such as global technology pools and global systems to share know\u2010how, innovation, and research and ensure access to technology and information on DRR\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Asian Preparedness Partnership (APP): \u201cSocial Innovation Grand Challenge\u201d seeks to identify, curate, nurture, and promote innovations derived from \u2018local actors\u2019 (i.e. governments, academia, private entrepreneurs, and civil society) for addressing pertinent DRM related challenges. Applications for Expression of Interest (EOI) for the APP: \u2018Social Innovation Grand Challenge\u2019 will open on 5 May 2021 at 13:00 Bangkok time (ICT).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>GOAL OF THE CHALLENGE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The innovation challenge seeks to identify, curate, nurture and promote innovations derived from \u2018local actors\u2019 in APP countries for addressing pertinent DRM-related challenges.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>THEMES OF THE CHALLENGE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6014\" src=\"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/APP-2.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/APP-2.png 700w, https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/APP-2-300x169.png 300w\"  sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The initiative seeks to identify and nurture locally-led solutions around the following themes:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Risk communication: Solutions for promoting risk understanding, communication, and awareness-raising<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Early warning: Last Mile connectivity through effective early warning and timely dissemination of information<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Emergency Response: Innovative solutions for strengthening the emergency operations, response systems, and mechanisms.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The full \u2018Guideline for Applicants\u2019, including principles of the challenge, types of innovations sought, eligibility criteria for applicants can be downloaded <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/app.adpc.net\/sites\/default\/files\/public\/2021-05\/Innovation%20Challenge%20-%20Guideline%20for%20Applicants.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #00ccff;\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applicants should specifically refer to section 4.2 of the Guideline on \u2018Instructions for application form for Expression of Interest (EOI)\u2019 before completing the application form. Organizations may include non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or civil society organizations (CSO) or community organizations, the private sector, social enterprises, and academia, etc. Applications from other countries will not be considered. Applications should be submitted in English language only.
