Quezon City, Philippines<\/strong> \u2014 ICLEI Southeast Asia Secretariat (ICLEI SEAS) launched Active City-Community Engagement to Leverage Emissions Reduction through Activities that Transform Energy Use (ACCELERATE) project\u2019s online platform<\/span><\/a> and knowledge products on energy efficiency and conservation (EE&C), and green buildings. The project\u2019s platform was launched during the Philippine Green Building Council<\/span><\/a>\u2019s \u201cGreen Building 2020\u201d Digital Conference on 22 September 2020.<\/p>\n

The goal of this online resource is to consolidate, and host different and up-to-date information on EE&C, and green building applicable to the Philippine context. It is envisioned to be the go-to resource hub of local governments, business sectors, and individuals for information on energy conservation and sustainable lifestyle.<\/p>\n

The features of the platform include an energy assessment survey and dedicated tabs for businesses, local governments, households, and knowledge products. The tabs for businesses and households offer simple and cost-effective measures to ensure energy efficiency and conservation in every Filipino home and businesses, and the local government tab showcases the salient features of energy policies and regulations in the Philippines. The platform also includes a downloadable library of materials on green buildings and energy under the knowledge products tab.<\/p>\n

“I urge everyone to visit and use the ACCELERATE online platform.” said Mr. Allendri Angeles, Solid Waste Management Office Head and City Environment and Natural Resources Office Acting Head of Pasig City. “It will be our springboard towards living a sustainable lifestyle through energy efficiency and conservation. Let’s heal our planet and do our own share on conserving our natural resources.”<\/p>\n

Engineer Ma. Teresa Quiogue, Supervising Environmental Management Specialist of Para\u00f1aque City, during the platform walkthrough encourages the citizens of Paranaque to use the energy assessment tool in the ACCELERATE platform, and said “This energy assessment is a good tool to assess the energy consumption of our appliances at home, office, and establishment. It also provides energy saving tips to follow at the end of the survey.”<\/p>\n

Apart from the website, the ACCELERATE project launched two knowledge materials on EE&C: \u201cA Guidebook for the Energy Advocates<\/span><\/a>\u201d, a reference material on conducting a basic energy audit and \u201cChuchay Learns to Save Energy<\/span><\/a>\u201d, a comic book that follows Chuchay\u2019s day as she learns about energy efficiency and conservation. Both materials and more can be found and downloaded from the ACCELERATE website.<\/p>\n
