ICLEI Southeast Asia Secretariat congratulates Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto of Bogor, Indonesia and Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan of Catbalogan, Philippines for being elected as part of ICLEI\u2019s Global Executive Committee 2018-2021.<\/p>\n
The Global Executive Committee (GexCom) is the representation of ICLEI Membership at the international arena; representing the organization to global institutions and dialogues. The GexCom, apart from the Council, has the power to decide and influence policies to be implemented by the organization. GexCom has the sole power to adopt and amend by-laws, summon the Council for meetings, appoint a Secretary General, and approve the establishment of an ICLEI Office.<\/p>\n
The GexCom consists of a President, Vice Presidents, Regional Seats, and Portfolio Seats. Those who hold the Portfolio seats are elected by the ICLEI GexCom members.<\/p>\n
Hon. Stephany Uy-Tan was elected as the Vice President and she also serves as the ICLEI Spokesperson to the UN Portfolio Seat along with ICLEI Vice President Frank Cownie, the Mayor of Des Moines, Iowa. Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto, on the other hand, was elected as the Chair of the Low Carbon Cities portfolio. He also holds the Regional Seat to the GexCom for Southeast Asia as a member of the Regional Executive Committee.<\/p>\n
Rt. Hon. Datuk Seri Utama Ir. Hj. Idris bin Hj. Haron, former Chief Minister of the State of Melaka, Malaysia is a member of the GexCom as well as the Chair of the Resilience portfolio.<\/p>\n
