{"id":2737,"date":"2017-11-24T05:28:31","date_gmt":"2017-11-24T05:28:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/?p=2737"},"modified":"2017-11-24T05:31:43","modified_gmt":"2017-11-24T05:31:43","slug":"iki-supported-ambitious-city-promises-project-to-be-officially-launched-in-the-philippines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/index.php\/2017\/11\/24\/iki-supported-ambitious-city-promises-project-to-be-officially-launched-in-the-philippines\/","title":{"rendered":"IKI-supported Ambitious City Promises project to be officially launched in the Philippines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pasig City, Philippines:\u00a0The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/ACP_brochure_v5.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Ambitious City Promises (ACP)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0will be officially launched in the Philippines on November 28, 2017, at Oakwood Premier, Pasig City.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Launched before a global audience on October 20 at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/index.php\/2017\/10\/24\/southeast-asian-cities-commit-to-low-carbon-urban-development-launch-of-the-ambitious-city-promises-at-the-seoul-mayors-forum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Seoul Mayors Forum on Climate Change<\/span><\/a>, ACP is a three-year regional project supporting cities in Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam to operationalize local climate action through an active and inclusive stakeholder engagement strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the Philippines, ACP cities are Pasig, Para\u00f1aque, and Marikina. These cities will receive assistance from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iclei.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability\u00a0<\/span><\/a>and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/english.seoul.go.kr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Seoul Metropolitan Government<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(SMG) in establishing and implementing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions strategies, taking into account the cities\u2019 development pressures and local context while also emphasizing the importance of citizen engagement and working with relevant national ministries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Drawing inspiration from the \u201cPromise of Seoul,\u201d a mitigation plan with the aim to reduce 20 million tons of GHG emissions by 2030, the project will be implemented in close coordination with SMG.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">ACP is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) through the International Climate Initiative (IKI) program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon guaranteed Seoul\u2019s continuous support for the project, noting, \u201cThe BMUB, ICLEI, and Seoul, will spare no efforts to ensure that the Ambitious City Promises project is successfully implemented\u2026To guarantee better and brighter lives and futures for the citizens, we [cities] need to be more open and flexible in the way we think and act.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There will be a press conference on November 28, 10:00 AM at Oakwood Premier, Pasig City with the mayors of participating cities, officials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and ICLEI representatives.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pasig City, Philippines:\u00a0The\u00a0Ambitious City Promises (ACP)\u00a0will be officially launched in the Philippines on November 28, 2017, at Oakwood Premier, Pasig City.
