{"id":2498,"date":"2017-09-15T10:00:20","date_gmt":"2017-09-15T10:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/?p=2498"},"modified":"2018-07-10T09:27:49","modified_gmt":"2018-07-10T09:27:49","slug":"philippine-vietnamese-and-german-cities-convene-at-hoi-an-vietnam-for-the-first-network-meeting-of-asian-municipalities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/index.php\/2017\/09\/15\/philippine-vietnamese-and-german-cities-convene-at-hoi-an-vietnam-for-the-first-network-meeting-of-asian-municipalities\/","title":{"rendered":"Philippine, and Vietnamese cities convene at Hoi An, Vietnam for the First Network Meeting of Asian Municipalities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hoi An, Vietnam: Philippine municipalities Dumangas, Lubang, and the Science City of Mu\u00f1oz along with Vietnamese representatives from Hoan Kiem, Hanoi, and Hoi An and their partner municipalities from Germany attended the First Network Meeting of Asian Municipalities for the 5<sup>th<\/sup> Phase of the Municipal Climate Partnership from August 29-31.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was held to facilitate knowledge exchange between Philippine and Vietnamese local governments in forwarding local climate action. It also took note of progress and challenges encountered since the International Kickoff Workshop in the Philippines last July 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The 5<sup>th<\/sup> Phase partner municipalities from Asia and Germany are the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hoi An, Vietnam \u2013 Wernigerode, Germany<\/li>\n<li>District of Hoan Kiem, Hanoi, Vietnam \u2013 Bezirk Lichtenberg, Germany<\/li>\n<li>Dumangas, Philippines \u2013 Herdecke, Germany<\/li>\n<li>Lubang, Philippines \u2013 Ebhausen, Germany<\/li>\n<li>Science City of Mu\u00f1oz, Philippines \u2013 University Town of Marburg, Germany<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this event, participants discussed their joint program of action on climate change adaptation and mitigation. Service Agency department head, Ms. Jessica Baier, shared success stories from the partnership as well as funding mechanisms which can provide support for the initiatives identified in the joint program of action.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2491\" style=\"width: 821px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2491\" class=\"wp-image-2491 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Tour-at-Hoi-An-Ancient-Town-2-e1507003103186.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"811\" height=\"456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Tour-at-Hoi-An-Ancient-Town-2-e1507003103186.jpg 811w, https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Tour-at-Hoi-An-Ancient-Town-2-e1507003103186-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Tour-at-Hoi-An-Ancient-Town-2-e1507003103186-768x432.jpg 768w\"  sizes=\"(max-width: 811px) 100vw, 811px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2491\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hoi An shared its city&#8217;s history, vulnerabilities, and notable experience as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>With the leadership of Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Chairman of Hoi An People\u2019s Committee, the delegation explored Hai An as the city showcased its climate change initiatives, social realities, and significant experience as a UNESCO World Heritage site.<\/p>\n<p>Philippine municipalities posited that they have the same vulnerabilities as Hoi An, specifically coastal erosion, and flooding.
