{"id":2142,"date":"2017-06-01T08:10:27","date_gmt":"2017-06-01T08:10:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/?p=2142"},"modified":"2017-08-01T09:46:24","modified_gmt":"2017-08-01T09:46:24","slug":"naga-city-gears-up-to-develop-its-30-year-sustainable-urban-development-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/index.php\/2017\/06\/01\/naga-city-gears-up-to-develop-its-30-year-sustainable-urban-development-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Naga City gears up to develop its 30-year Sustainable Urban Development Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last May 10-11, selected Naga City stakeholders convened for a two-day workshop which aims to solicit inputs for the formulation of Naga City\u2019s 30-year Sustainable Urban Development Plan.<\/p>\n<p>About 30 participants representing the different offices within the local government, academe, and youth joined the workshop which employed \u201cDesign Thinking.\u201d The activity was supported by the GIZ Integrated Resource Management in Asian Cities: The Urban Nexus in cooperation with ICLEI Southeast Asia Secretariat. Two experts from denkmodell, a consulting firm based in Berlin, Germany specializing in Design Thinking facilitated the workshop.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2149 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_8442-e1496390255745.jpg\"  sizes=\"(max-width: 3240px) 100vw, 3240px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_8442-e1496390255745.jpg 3240w, http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_8442-e1496390255745-300x213.jpg 300w, http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_8442-e1496390255745-768x545.jpg 768w, http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_8442-e1496390255745-1024x726.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/icleiseas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_8442-e1496390255745-958x679.jpg 958w\" width=\"3240\" height=\"2298\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ms. Ruth Erlbeck of GIZ welcomed the participants to the Design Thinking Workshop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mr. Dirk Jung, Managing Partner of denkmodell, explained that \u201cDesign Thinking is a human-centered approach, which is used in order to create innovative products, services or concepts. The process, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.denkmodell.de\/en\/\">denkmodell<span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"> GmbH<\/span><\/a>, consists of five phases: explore, understand, ideate, prototype, and test.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first two phases (explore and understand) serve to understand the topic in-depth \u2013 its challenges, its context, its users etc. However, the last three phases (ideate, prototype and test) serve to create ideas and find solutions for the challenges or questions, which were identified,\u201d Mr. Jung elaborated.<\/p>\n<p>Workshop participants were asked to develop \u201cprototypes\u201d of potential urban planning solutions catering to perceived needs of different members of the community including a child, an out-of-school youth, low income households, and middle-class professional. Legacion explaining the workshop&#8217;s significance in developing Naga City&#8217;s 30-year Sustainable Urban Development Plan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The 30-year Sustainable Urban Development Plan is part of the city\u2019s efforts to localize the <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><a style=\"color: #00ccff;\" href=\"http:\/\/2040.neda.gov.ph\/\">AmBisyon Natin 2040<\/a><\/span> of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). AmBisyon Natin 2040\u00a0is a representation of the Filipino people\u2019s collective long-term vision and aspirations for themselves and for the country in the next 25 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The Urban Nexus is a regional project implemented by GIZ and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It adheres to the principle of holistic or integrated urban planning with focus on water, energy, and food (land use) sectors. The nexus approach intends to promote \u201ccircular economy\u201d approach where resources such as water, food, and energy, are used more efficiently and effectively.
