{"id":10295,"date":"2025-12-15T22:44:40","date_gmt":"2025-12-15T14:44:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/?p=10295"},"modified":"2025-12-15T22:48:20","modified_gmt":"2025-12-15T14:48:20","slug":"iclei-sea-trains-11-ph-cities-in-climate-data-reporting-action-planning-for-wwfs-opc-2025-2026-cycle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/index.php\/2025\/12\/15\/iclei-sea-trains-11-ph-cities-in-climate-data-reporting-action-planning-for-wwfs-opc-2025-2026-cycle\/","title":{"rendered":"ICLEI SEA trains 11 PH cities in climate data reporting, action planning for WWF\u2019s OPC 2025-2026 cycle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ICLEI Southeast Asia (SEA) conducted in-depth training workshops on climate data reporting and local climate action planning with 11 Philippine cities from July to October 2025 as part of its partnership with the World Wide Fund For Nature Philippines (WWF-Philippines) for the One Planet Cities (OPC) program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now in its 2025-2026 cycle, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwf.org.ph\/our_work\/energy\/one_planet_cities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>OPC program<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> aims to assist cities worldwide to act as transformation catalysts, implementing integrated and inclusive plans in line with the 1.5 degrees Celsius goal of the Paris Agreement, ensuring urban resilience, and unlocking individual and collective climate actions. WWF established the program in 2011. Meanwhile, implementation in the Philippines started in 2015, marking this cycle\u2019s 10th year of working with local governments and communities on climate action in the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, the One Planet Cities Challenge (OPCC), the program\u2019s flagship activity, is a friendly competition that aims to develop and disseminate the best practices in climate mitigation and adaptation of cities worldwide by encouraging participating cities to report their climate actions, strategies, and data through a standardized international platform. Since the OPCC\u2019s inception, WWF has partnered with ICLEI mainly through the use of its online reporting platform for climate data, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/carbonn.org\/initiatives\/cdp-iclei-track\/#:~:text=About%20CDP%2DICLEI%20Track,than%202%2C500%20cities%20and%20regions.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: WWF-Philippines).\n\t\t\t\t<\/dd><\/dl>\n\t\t\t<br style='clear: both' \/>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ICLEI SEA conducted the training in the cities of Bacolod, Balanga, Butuan, Calapan, Carmona, Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS), Iloilo, Ligao, Oroquieta, and Tayabas, which are participating in the OPC for the first time; and in the city of La Carlota, which has previously participated in the OPC. Santa Rosa City, Laguna and Legazpi City, Albay\u2014also previous OPC participants\u2014were also engaged through light-touch activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Staff from local government offices involved in climate data reporting and climate action planning attended the training workshops.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Workshops on the CDP-ICLEI Track were conducted in the 10 cities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Workshops on GHG inventory (GHGi) training were also conducted in Bacolod, Ligao, Oroquieta, and Tayabas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other workshop topics included Inclusive Climate Action (ICA) for Butuan City &amp; IGACOS; and Local Energy Efficiency and Conservation Plan (LEECP) for Carmona, La Carlota, Oroquieta, and Tayabas. Meanwhile, Balanga and Calapan were trained in developing Climate and Disaster Risk Assessments (CDRA).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The workshop topics for each city were decided based on the city\u2019s specific needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier this year, WWF-Philippines reported that the 2025-2026 cycle of the OPC program in the Philippines has the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/icleiseas.org\/index.php\/2025\/04\/29\/highest-ever-28-philippine-cities-join-wwfs-one-planet-cities-opc-program-in-10th-anniversary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>highest-ever number of participating cities<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> since the program\u2019s inception in the country 10 years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2026, for the second half of the cycle, ICLEI SEA will also assist WWF-Philippines in providing localized feedback reports for each city.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ICLEI Southeast Asia (SEA) conducted in-depth training workshops on climate data reporting and local climate action planning with 11 Philippine cities from July to October 2025 as part of its partnership with the World Wide Fund For Nature Philippines (WWF-Philippines) for the One Planet Cities (OPC) program.
