Linking Global Targets to Sustainable Lifestyles in Asia: An Analysis of City Development Plans

This quick study is supported by the Ministry of Environment, Japan. ICLEI SEAS is working with the IGES in conducting this research. This study seeks to identify linkages between likely sustainable development goals (SDGs) targets that have lifestyles implications and local urban development plans in Asia. The research will help shed light on (1) how well local priorities are aligned with relevant targets for the SDGs and (2) how “ready” local plans are for promoting lifestyle changes that can bring down GHG emissions. ICLEI SEAS leads the data gathering and analysis of urban development plans in ten Philippine cities to trace considerations for low carbon sustainable livelihoods in the transport, waste, energy and consumption sectors. The result will provide a preliminary assessment of city’s awareness on and interests in sustainability and climate change respectively.
